de Arouce Tinto 2007;
Robert Parker, december 2010,
90/100
The 2007 TINTO (QUINTA DE FOZ DE AROUCE) is a blend of Baga and Touriga
Nacional, younger vines (10 years) than its Vinhas Velhas sibling, but
pure, clean and beautifully crafted. Elegant and ethereal in the mid-palate,
it is extremely bright and crisp, creating a mouthwatering finish. It
is a wine that needs a little time as well as tasters that have some appreciation
for its style, but it should age beautifully, develop exceptionally well,
and offer a lot of bang for the buck. It will be a great food matchup
for high acid foods. This is not a wine for those who want jammy, sweet,
fruity stuff, but let me add, since I may have scared you--don't be scared!
With time and air, this did come around, began to show a little character
and game, and proved that it did have some tasty fruit and balance, too.
It is a very nice value point, has some potential upside, and is something
that can be cellared. Drink 2012-2019.
