A pretty, complex and admirably fresh nose of straw, lemon, and yellow
fruit aromas leads to rich and relatively full-bodied flavors that possess
plenty of underlying material as well as fine balance and length for a
wine at this level. 2013+

Light floral, apple and apricot nose. Quite rich, supple and juicy. Has
immediate appeal. Drink: 2011-2014

A ripe and exceptionally fresh nose features notes of yellow orchard fruit
and a pretty floral hint that introduces textured, mouth coating and delicious
flavors that are impressively concentrated for a wine at this level. This
isn’t an elegant wine but it’s terrific Bourgogne. 2010+

Creamy and mineral citrus. Pretty intense on the nose. And dense on the
palate. Tight, firm and really quite powerful. (JH) Drink 2012-2016

Javillier’s 2007 Bourgogne Cuvee des Forgets is as appealing as any vintage
of this blend that I can recall, and indeed an outstanding wine for its
appellation. Lemon and orange blossom in the nose; Normandy cider tinged
with citrus zest and brown spices on a vivacious yet subtly creamy and
by no means meager palate; and a long, refreshing finish render this perfectly-proportioned
Bourgogne an irresistible glass over the next 2-3 years and an excellent
value.
Patrick Javillier began picking on September 3rd, but only finished (with
his Savigny) mid-month. He chaptalized lightly, keeping all of the wines
under 13%. He thinks his 2007 results capture “the spirit and purity of
1984, but with less acidity, and perhaps a bit that of 1979.” But the
wines of Javillier were very different and far less exciting even a dozen
years ago than they are today, so in that sense these comparisons are
moot. (His favorites for drinking now, by the way, are his 1990s.) And
I have never tasted a more impeccably balanced or consistently delicious
and intriguing collection at this address than these 2007s. For some general
notes on Javillier’s approach to vinification, consult my report in issue
180.

A pure, expressive and really quite pretty nose of fresh chardonnay fruit
and citrus hints that are in keeping with the light mineral notes of the
attractively detailed and firm flavors that possess both the balance and
acid structure to reward a few years of cellar time. Lovely quality.

Aged entirely in oak (40% new while other vintages have seen 10%) for
12 months, the 2003 Bourgogne Cuvee des Forgets Cuvee Speciale (white)
reveals green tints in its pale straw color. Its rich, creamy and yeasty
aromas lead to a lush, smooth, and opulent personality. Medium-bodied,
seamless, and satin-textured, this is an ample pear flavored wine for
drinking over the next 6 years. Bravo to Patrick Javillier!

Licorice and lime. Quite lean, but true. Very serious and lean
for the appellation, though
not a very long laster. Drink 2005-2009

This is stunning quality for a Bourgogne: I'd have this in preference
to most village Meursaults. A reasonably deep colour, it has a fragrant
nose of nutty, rounded, slightly honeyed fruit. There's a whiff of smokiness.
The palate is broad with more nuttiness and a nice minerally finish with
lovely acidic structure. Very good/excellent.

Spicy pear aromas can be found in the nose of the 2001 Bourgogne Cuvee
des Forgets Cuvee Speciale. Lush, fresh, and bright, it is light to medium-bodied.
This wine offers a lovely array of lemon, mineral, and apple flavors in
its expressive personality.
