Dark cherry and blackberry fruit nose with some spice and a distinctive meatiness. There's also a hint of Chilean character (dark rubbery edge) but this is quite subtle. The palate has sweet dark fruit with a lovely meaty, earthy savouriness, reminding me of a good Southern Rhone red. Finishes firm and tannic. I like the fact that this isn't just about sweet fruit.

The 2006 Winemaker’s Blend Corralillo is 80% Merlot with the balance Malbec and Cabernet Franc. Aromas of spice box, tobacco, espresso, and blackcurrant are Bordeaux-like. This leads to a structured wine with plenty of ripe tannin, savory flavors, and a lengthy finish. Give it 3-4 years of cellaring and drink this promising effort through 2021.

Sweet, pure, ripe dark fruits nose with liqueur-like richness. Bold and full with deliciously fresh ripe palate showing good tannin and acidity. Fresh, pure and structured.
